Alfonso Yañez is the culinary artist behind a select menu designed to bring the best of Peruvian food to the North East table. Alfonso arrived in the UK in 2003 to work in the Cooperage, one of Newcastle’s oldest establishments. From then he has cooked in a variety of Spanish and Latin restaurants in the North East culminating in the opening of Solano’s Peruvian Cuisine in the city centre. Rumba has provided the perfect project for Alfonso to continue to delight the North East with the sumptuous fare of his homeland.

Papa a la Huancaina
Sliced boiled potatoes, feta cheese and Peruvian yellow chilli sauce, served with a boiled egg and black olives.
Ceviche de Pescado
A traditional Peruvian dish with chunks of fish fillet marinated in squeezed lime juice with red onion, coriander and fresh Peruvian chili (Aji Limo). Served with sweet potatoes, sweetcorn and dried corn(cancha).
Causa Limena de pollo o Vegetales
Yellow potatoes seasoned and mashed with freshly squeezed lime juice and fresh Peruvian yellow chilli, cooled and layered with a choice of chicken and vegetables, or simply vegetables

Seco de Cordero
A traditional Peruvian dish with tender pieces of lamb slow-cooked in coriander sauce with carrots and garden peas. Served with steamed white rice and yuca (cassava).
Aji de Pollo
Pulled chicken breast served in a creamy cheese sauce, served with potatoes, boiled eggs and steamed rice, this dish is made using the famous Peruvian chilli aji amarillo and walnuts. (contains nuts)

Spaghetti served with strips of chicken or beef sautéed with spring onions, red pepper, fresh tomatoes, ginger and soy sauce.
Chicken fillet served with steak cut chips, steamed white rice and fresh salad.
